Lisa Fonssagrives-Penn

Lisa Fonssagrives-Penn (1911-1992) was a dancer, photographer, stylist, sculptor, and a leading 20th-century fashion model. From 1935 to 1955, she worked with top photographers like Richard Avedon, Irving Penn, and Horst P. Horst. She was the first model to feature on Time magazine’s cover in September 1949. Married to Irving Penn from 1950 until her death, she was the subject of many of his most famous photographs. This publication gathers 150 iconic images of her career, some unpublished.
