The result of a collaboration between the Magnum Foundation and the World Monuments Fund, it illustrates the complex and reciprocal relationship between humanity-especially local communities-and the monuments and landscapes they shape. Eleven photographers offer overlapping narratives-those of the monuments that bear witness to history, those of the local communities that are their stewards, and that of the photographer-so that each shot becomes a sedimentation of times and points of view.
