Born in Los Angeles in 1965, Jeff Kowatch has lived and worked in Brussels for the last twenty years. His abstract painting is based on a demanding technique inspired by the Flemish masters and their glazes made up of hundreds of layers of oil paint, allowing him to create subtle transparency effects that make the surface of his canvases vibrate with rounded coloured shapes that cluster and clash. These patterns can also be found in his works made on Dibond with oil sticks.
