Hermann Nitsch

A founder and key figure of the Viennese Actionism, Hermann Nitsch (Vienna, 1938–Mistelbach, 2022) was renowned for his highly radical work, combining painting, music, and performance. The last phase of his career saw him embrace a new style painting characterised by vibrant colours. Following the Musée de l’Orangerie’s invitation to the artist to dialogue with Claude Monet’s Water Lillies, this book provides a unique opportunity to explore the “last” Nitsch and his elective kinship with the master of Impressionism, who shared his obsession with light and colour.
