Using a wide variety of languages, the works of Otobong Nkanga (Kano, Nigeria, 1974) address urgent issues related to the ecological and environmental crisis, resource exploitation and sustainability, while also investigating the consequences of colonialism and its repercussions on the social fabric. This catalogue, published on the occasion of the artist's two solo exhibitions at Villa Arson Nice and the Castello di Rivoli, includes fact sheets on the works, images of the installations, a rich scholarly chronology of the solo and group exhibitions that traces the artist's exhibition history from the beginnings to the present, some previously unpublished poems by the artist and an interview by Éric Mangion.
