We have been walking on two feet for at least six million years and have learnt from the very beginning to unload the weight of our body on the arch of the foot. Salvatore Ferragamo has dedicated his life to the anatomical study of the foot and the arch of the foot, confronting architecture and engineering, as his patents demonstrate. The praise of walking, dancing barefoot or on one's toes, walking on a tightrope like a tightrope walker, climbing mountains, striding and marching on command, walking to find oneself, walking aimlessly are just some of the themes addressed in the book accompanying the exhibition ‘Equilibrium’, the new project of the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum, curated by Stefania Ricci and Sergio Risaliti.
