One of the most original contemporary artists and an established protagonist on the international scene, Mimmo Paladino has created a personal language that has regenerated itself through an all-round vision of the creative experience, so much so that in 1985 he was able to declare: 'The artist is no longer satisfied with brushes alone. A kind of total art is necessary precisely in the light of all the attempts that have already been made'. Germano Celant's historical-critical analysis of his work, from 1963 to the present day, identifies his contribution to the renewal of painting, which, after expanding to the environment, has been translated into photography and sculpture, architecture and cinema, opera and theatre. The book is introduced by Germano Celant's historical-critical essay ("The Constructions of Mimmo Paladino"), followed by a "Chronology" (by Germano Celant and Diletta Borromeo) that traverses Mimmo Paladino's entire biographical and artistic career and includes an iconographic set accompanied by his poetic statements. This complex and rich material is followed, at the end of the volume, by the "Apparatuses", consisting of lists of "Exhibitions and Special Projects, Bibliography by and on the Artist".
