Published on the occasion of the exhibition in conjunction with the 60th. Venice Art Biennale, Action: by Number investigates the work of Reza Aramesh over the course of his long career spanning more than two decades, introducing the reader to the artist's output through his major works: From the Study of the Head in which he addressed the theme of the sublimation of horror through the now infamous beheadings by terrorists to the Study of Sweatcloth depicting men's underwear carved in marble, the last material shred of dignity and bodily autonomy of the prisoner, as a testimony to his identity and as a symbol of his subsequent loss.
