LiFang

Born in Jiangsu, China, in 1968, LiFang lives and works in Paris. Her figurative painting explores subjects from everyday life with a strikingly singular aesthetic. She uses broad brushstrokes to paint faces, bodies and clothing, creating figures that appear to be sculpted directly from the coloured material. The absence of individualisation in these characters brings us back to the universality of the sorrows and joys of the human experience. LiFang is constantly reinventing the classic subjects of painting to deliver a contemporary vision of the world around us.
